On this past Veteran's Day, VCOM SOMA (Virginia Campus) held a resolutions writers workshop as part of their Health Policy class (an elective offered at VCOM). The goal was to first, make students realize that through SOMA they have a "real" voice and second, show them how easy it is, to use that voice. Students were lectured on how to go about writing a resolution and then tasked to write their own. The event generated several heated discussions ranging from varied social issues, to political affairs, to changes in school curriculums. Our instructor was so pleased, that he was willing to offer extra credit to any group who came back the following week with a polished resolution! VCOM SOMA hopes to bring at least two new resolutions to D.O. day on the hill come March 2015.
