NOVA Networking Event

 Crepes and connections?

That’s the winning combination the SOMA Chapter at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) put together this past October. They held a Social Networking Event in conjunction with the Broward County Osteopathic Medical Association. There we good times with music and free unlimited crepes, but they didn’t stop there. Students were able to network with SOMA members, and the current President of Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. Local residency program directors, physicians, and residents were also on hand to speak with the students and answer their questions.

Sweets and sweet networking opportunities? Now that’s the stuff medical students' dreams.

Great work Nova!

Mini Medical School at LMU-DCOM

LMU-DCOM visited a local elementary school this week inspire the next generation of D.O.s at their Mini Medical School and What's in a Doctor's Bag events.

They were able to interact with over 500 elementary students teaching them preventative health tips and exposing them to the medical field to help alleviate fears the next time they go to the doctor.

Way to pay it forward LMU-DCOM!

ACOM Hitting the Ground Running

The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is one of SOMA’s newest chapters.

They have been extremely successful during their inaugural year and have more than tripled their membership numbers since their start as a chapter last spring!  They are also extremely active on their campus. They have paired with other organizations to host fundraising events, spent their time collecting donations for the Love in Action Food Panty and even hosted a blood drive on campus.  Their took their mentorship skills to the next level when they created “White Coat Grams” filled with encouraging messages, goodies and SOMA pins to all of their new first year students and helped them celebrate them receiving their white coats.

We are extremely proud of ACOM and can’t wait to see what they do next!
