The Student Advocate Association (SAA) at ATSU-KCOM invited the SOMA chapter to participate in their first meeting of the year.
The Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association (AAOA) President, Pam Kolinski was present via webcam and gave a presentation about the support network the AAOA offers for osteopathic physicians and students alike. Following the presentation, there was an open question panel with 3 local physicians and their spouses. The panel provided excellent advice to those in attendance on everything from how to tackle the journey through medical school as a couple to how to support each other along the way.
In addition to attending the meeting, the local SOMA chapter provided babysitting services to help facilitate family attendance at the event. ATSU-KCOM SOMA looks forward to continuing their partnership with SAA in the near future as they work together to ensure the osteopathic physicians of the future, and their families, spouses, and significant others get through this ordeal we call medical school with the fewest hiccups along the way as possible.
